Portfolio
An agricultural processing company in Ghana needed a more reliable solar power system to support production equipment, grain handling, cold storage rooms, lighting, and evening loading operations.
The facility had open land beside the processing area, making it suitable for a ground-mounted solar PV system. However, the customer needed more than daytime solar generation. The project also required system integration, backup power support, and a practical configuration for changing industrial loads.
WHC Power designed a 500 kW commercial solar power system with approximately 1 MWh battery energy storage support, helping the facility reduce diesel generator dependence and improve daily power reliability.

Project Background
The customer operates an agricultural processing site with production machinery, cold storage loads, control systems, lighting, and logistics areas. Electricity demand changes throughout the day, especially when processing lines and refrigeration equipment operate at the same time.
Grid instability created pressure on daily operations. During voltage fluctuation or short outages, the facility had to rely on diesel generators to keep critical loads running and avoid interruption to processing and storage work.

Power Supply Challenges
The project needed to solve several practical energy challenges: unstable grid supply, diesel generator dependence, peak-load pressure, and the need for continuous operation during busy production periods.
For this type of facility, power reliability is closely connected to product quality and operating efficiency. Cold storage rooms, packaging lines, lighting, and control systems all require stable electricity to support daily work.
The customer also needed a system that could be installed on available land near the facility and integrated with existing electrical infrastructure without adding unnecessary complexity to operation and maintenance.
WHC Power Solution
WHC Power provided a complete C&I solar power solution combining ground-mounted solar PV, battery energy storage support, hybrid inverter / PCS equipment, electrical protection, and system integration guidance.
During the day, the 500 kW solar PV system helps supply the facility’s production load. The energy storage system can store surplus solar power and provide support when grid power is unstable, during evening operations, or when selected critical loads require backup power.
The solution was designed as an integrated solar power system rather than a standalone PV installation. This approach helps the customer improve solar energy utilization, reduce diesel generator runtime, and maintain more stable operation for processing and cold storage work.

System Configuration
Solar Capacity: 500 kW
Battery Storage Support: Approximately 1 MWh lithium battery system
Inverter / PCS: 500 kW hybrid inverter / PCS solution
System Type: Ground-mounted solar PV + battery energy storage support
Application: Agricultural processing and cold storage power supply
Project Site: Open land near a commercial processing facility
Project Benefits
The system helps the facility use more solar energy during production hours and reduce diesel generator operation during grid interruptions.
Battery storage support improves power reliability for refrigeration, lighting, control systems, and selected production loads when the public grid is unstable.
By combining solar generation, storage, inverter equipment, and project integration support, the facility gains a more practical and reliable power structure for agricultural processing operations.
