An agricultural operator in Sierra Leone needed a practical solar power system to support irrigation pumps, farm water supply equipment, site lighting, monitoring devices and selected auxiliary loads.
The project uses ground-mounted solar panels installed on red-earth farmland, with a small equipment shelter, electrical poles, a fenced project area and nearby agricultural surroundings. WHC Power configured the site as a 50kW commercial and agricultural solar power system with approximately 100kWh battery storage support.
The solution focuses on solar generation, system integration, backup power support and reduced diesel dependence for daily farm operation.

Project Background
Rural agricultural sites often need stable electricity for water pumping, irrigation scheduling, basic lighting, tools, communications and daily site operation. When grid access is limited or unstable, operators may rely on diesel generators, which increases fuel logistics pressure and maintenance work.
For this project, the available open land beside the farm area made a ground-mounted solar PV system practical. The equipment shelter allowed the site to integrate solar generation, inverter control, battery storage support and electrical protection into one coordinated power solution.

Power Supply Challenges
The customer needed a power structure that could support irrigation and water supply loads during daytime farm operation, while also providing more stable electricity during weak grid periods.
Diesel generator dependence created operating cost exposure and made the site more difficult to manage during fuel delivery delays or equipment maintenance.
The system also needed to remain simple, serviceable and suitable for a rural agricultural environment, where practical operation and long-term reliability are more important than oversized complexity.

WHC Power Solution
WHC Power designed a 50kW ground-mounted solar power system with approximately 100kWh battery storage support for the agricultural irrigation site.
During the day, the solar PV array helps power irrigation-related loads and supports battery charging. When solar output changes, grid power is unstable or selected loads require backup support, the battery system can work with the inverter solution to maintain more reliable farm operation.
The solution was planned as an integrated agricultural solar power system, combining PV generation, inverter configuration, battery matching, electrical protection and project-level technical guidance.
